Shaya Al-Shaya, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, has formed a task force at the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) to study and approve the authority’s renewable energy projects in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, according to Al-Rai daily.
The task team would be led by Badour Al-Sharrah, the Head of Electrical Works and Renewable Energy Department. Bassem Al-Muslim and Khaled Al-Rashidi, representing the Ministry of Electricity, and Faisal Mulla Ali, Yasmine Al-Hashemi, and Rahaf Al-Otaibi, representing PAHW, are among the task force members.
The task force’s responsibilities were outlined in the decision, which included follow-up research and examination of all solar photovoltaic system plans (design and execution), studies, reports, specifications, and materials for each PAHW project separately (whether in buildings or planning areas).
Approval of the subcontractor for solar energy works of each PAHW project by representatives of the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, according to a list of companies approved by the ministry, and submission of the final plans (design and implementation), studies, reports, specifications, and materials for the solar PV system for each project of a PAHW.
Furthermore, the task force is tasked with monitoring, studying, and approving all other renewable energy systems in PAHW’s projects, establishing a mechanism for receiving and inspecting completed projects, and keeping up with any changes in the requirements and laws of renewable energy systems affiliated with the Ministry of Electricity, which will be applied in PAHW’s future projects.
The task force was also permitted to prepare an adequate structure for carrying out its work, and its meetings were to be held in the presence of a majority of its members and accordance with the employment affairs department’s norms.
